Call for Applications for Voting Membership

 

TAG Overview:

The purpose of the Wyoming GIS Technical Advisory Group (GIS-TAG) is to proactively participate in the recommendation and implementation of GIS policy and direction, provide a forum for GIS cooperative effort and information exchange, promote the effective and efficient use of GIS resources, and act as a primary technical advisor to the GIS Oversight Committee.  Anyone with a vested interest in technical GIS issues in the State of Wyoming is welcome to attend the GIS-TAG meetings, but there can only be 14 voting members. These 14 members consist of two representatives from each of the following groups: Municipalities, Counties, Federal, State, Private Industry, Tribal, and Education entities.   More information on the GIS-TAG can be found by clicking this link



 

Open Seats:

Applications are being solicited to fill several vacant voting seats on the GIS-TAG.  Voting members will be asked to attend (in person or via phone/video) bi-monthly TAG meetings, and may be asked to serve on subcommittees. Membership terms are concurrent with the Biennial fiscal year of the State of Wyoming. Currently, the GIS-TAG is seeking to fill the following vacant seats for the remainder of the 2011-2012 term:

·         State: 1 Seat

·         City: 1 Seat

·         Education: 1 Seat

·         Private: 1 Seat

·         Tribal: 2 Seats

 

Application / Selection Process:

To qualify for a voting seat on GIS-TAG, applicants must actively work with GIS Software at a technical level, and be tangibly invested in GIS in the State of Wyoming. If you are interested in serving on GIS-TAG, please email a letter of interest stating which seat you are interested in serving on, along with a brief biography as a justification of your eligibility, to gis-tag@teamwyoming.com. Once your letter of interest is received, you will be personally contacted to further discuss the opportunities. Selection will be made by popular vote using an electronic survey that will be opened to any person who is tangibly invested in GIS in the State of Wyoming. The application period will close at the end of the business day on Friday, September 9, 2011.
