Access Database

Course levels cover the essential concepts of Access 2007, provides guidance on how to use the Access interface, and provides the training students require to create a database from scratch. There is concentration on designing and editing tables, finding and filtering data, printing data, and creating relationships between tables. There is information on how to present the data contained in the database by using Forms, Queries, and Reports. You will concentrate on modifying tables, setting field properties, action query design, using operators in queries, and using advanced query wizards. You will learn how to use advanced database features, including importing and exporting data. Additional course topics include editing forms and reports, advanced editing techniques, and manipulating controls and layouts. You will study charts sub-forms or sub-reports, form techniques, Pivot-Tables and Pivot-Charts, indexes, and hyperlinks, investigate database security, create macros, customize the navigation pane, and export data,

Excel Spreadsheet

Course levels cover the essential concepts of Excel 2007 and the use of spreadsheets to organize calculated information, which includes understanding the Excel interface and creating a well designed spreadsheet. Major topics include using and customizing the interface, constructing worksheets, basic workbook skills, working with ranges, creating simple formulas and complex formulas and using functions, copying and moving data, and printing. This course also covers page layout for printing, formatting data types, working with columns and rows, and applying automatic formatting and styles.  You will learn to create and apply complexly designed templates, apply conditional and custom formats, understand the use of Paste Special, customize preferences, and share workbooks. The course also addresses worksheet protection and the handling of multiple workbooks. Addressed is the use of the data series, the use of advanced functions including the LOOKUP functions, nested IF and multiple criteria IF functions.  You will create and use tools for data analysis, including Pivot-Tables and Pivot-Charts, scenarios and goal seek, data tables, consolidation of worksheets, problem solving, working with views, using auditing tools, and write and manage macros.

PowerPoint Presentations

This course provides instruction of PowerPoint from beginning through the techniques for advanced presentation enhancement. You will apply formatting techniques, transitional techniques, animation, use of themes, merging presentations, exporting and importing slide content, the use of the outline tab, editing and proofing text, use of graphic images and drawing objects, and use of the Slide Sorter and Slide Show view.

Word Processing

This course begins with the vital concepts of Word 2007 and word processing including guidance on using the new Word interface and creating and formatting a document. Students will concentrate on text editing, checking spelling and grammar, printing, and understanding the rationale of the Views in Microsoft WORD.  Additionally, you will gain information on character, paragraph, and document formatting, including styles, themes, tabs, numbered and bulleted lists, headers and footers, and setting odd and even page formatting. The course covers the advanced features of Word, including Mail Merge and mailing label merge, sorting data and creating formulas in tables, and working with lists, macros, and forms.  You will use legacy tools and understand how to organize and work with long documents. Students will be instructed on document protection, how to create a table of contents and a table of authorities, create an end of document index, set bookmarks, create captions and footnotes and endnotes, create and work with master documents, create a list of citations, and create a bibliography. Finally, students will learn to customize Word preferences.
