Public Comment Announcement for Community Development Block Grant Recovery Funds
The public is invited to comment on the proposed use of Community Development Block Grant-Recovery funds (CDBG-R) provided to the State of Wyoming as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The State is eligible to receive $857,718. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) strongly urges states to use CDBG-R funds for hard development costs associated with infrastructure activities that provide basic services to residents or activities that promote energy efficiency and conservation through rehabilitation or retrofitting of existing buildings.
While the full range of CDBG activities is available, HUD strongly suggests that grantees incorporate consideration of the public perception of the intent of the Recovery Act in identifying and selecting projects for CDBG-R funding.
The proposed use of CDBG-R funds is detailed in the document titled “Draft CDBG-R Substantial Amendment” found at the Wyoming Business Council Web site, www.wyomingbusiness.org, and the Wyoming Recovery and Reinvestment Plan Web site, http://wyoming.gov/recovery.
Copies of the plan are also available at local libraries. Comments may be submitted during a seven day public comment period beginning June 15, 2009 and concluding on June 23, 2009.
You may comment online through the Wyoming Business Council website, or provide written comments to Shawn Reese, Director, Investment Ready Communities, 214 West 15th Street, Cheyenne, Wyo., 82002 or at shawn.reese@wybusiness.org.
