WYOMING APPLIANCE REBATE PROGRAM

BRINGS RESIDENTS AFFORDABLE ENERGY, COST SAVINGS

Statewide rebates of up to $250 for energy efficient appliances available

CHEYENNE - An appliance rebate program will launch April 15 to help Wyoming residents replace older, less energy efficient appliances with newer, energy efficient technology.

The Wyoming Appliance Rebate Program, managed by the Wyoming State Energy Office (SEO) and funded by the federal 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), aims to capture valuable energy savings and spur economic growth around the state. Rebates will be available for replacement of older appliances with new, ENERGY STAR-qualifying clothes washers, dishwashers, water heaters, and furnaces.  The rebates range from $50 to $250 depending on the product, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last.

Details about eligibility and how to participate are available via the program Web site at: www.wyomingrebates.com or 1-877-50-REBATE

“Appliances, space heating and cooling, and water heating account for more than 70 percent of the energy used in homes,” said Heather Tupper, grant and contract specialist with the SEO.  “Now, Wyoming residents will have the option to realize useful savings through program rebates to reduce the upfront cost of purchasing a new appliance. And in the long term, the reduction in utility energy bills can bring cost savings for years down the road.”

To participate in the program, Wyoming residents of single-family homes should:

·         Identify ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances by visiting the program Web site

·         Starting April 15, 2010 purchase and install the qualifying product. While not required, purchase from a local vendor is encouraged.

·         Submit a completed rebate application and required documentation within 30 days of purchase to receive the rebate

To monitor available funding, the Wyoming Appliance Rebate Program will use a real-time funding gauge posted on the program Web site.  Retailers, contractors, and customers may consult this tool to keep apprised of funding availability.

To learn about energy efficiency rebates for appliance upgrades, consumers should contact their local energy utility.
